These are just some of the innovative ideas that Jeff Kaplan has pioneered as a research analyst, corporate executive, strategic consultant, featured columnist and industry speaker.
THINKstrategies was founded in 2001 by Kaplan -- formerly a leading industry analyst at IDC, Dataquest, and META Group, and successful senior marketing executive at InterOPS Management Solutions and International Network Services (INS) -- as the only independent strategic consulting firm dedicated to helping enterprise IT decision-makers and technology solution providers achieve their business objectives by leveraging the value of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), cloud computing and managed services.

Kaplan founded THINKstrategies in 2001 to address the unprecedented IT management and sourcing issues facing enterprise organizations, solutions providers and venture capital firms as the technology industry shifts from a product-centric to a services-driven business model. You can listen to Kaplan discuss the forces that are fundamentally changing the software industry in the video on the left.
Kaplan has over twenty-five years of experience and recognized expertise in IT/network management, SaaS, managed services, cloud computing, telecommunications and outsourcing trends. He helped to launch IDC's Communications Industry Research (CIR) program in 1983; Dataquest's Worldwide Services Research program in 1990; and Meta Group's Benchmarking program in 1995. He then went on to have successful 'real-world' experiences at INS and InterOPS Management Solutions.
In 2006, Kaplan founded the SaaS Showplace and Managed Services Showplace online directories and best practice resource centers which have now been merged into a new Cloud Computing Showplace, the largest vendor-independent listing of solutions and insights in the rapidly growing 'on-demand' services marketplace with over 1900 companies divided into over 90 application, industry, technology and service categories.
Kaplan is also a contributing columnist for BusinessWeek Online, Mass High Tech Journal, Financial Times of London, NetworkWorld, Business Communications Review, ComputerWorld, Datamation, eCommerce Times, InfoWorld, InformationWeek, and Web Host Industry Review on topics including managed services, software-as-a-service (SaaS), cloud computing, outsourcing strategies; network and systems operations, service level management (SLM); and IT ROI and TCO calculations. Kaplan is also a contributor to many other online publications, such as the Seeking Alpha portal of stock market opinion and analysis from blogs, money managers and investment newsletters; and the Internet Evolution blog.
